Willow Class update - Summer 2
Dear Parents
What a fabulous half term Willow class have had with our final theme of ‘Scrumdidlyumtious’. We have been writing non-fiction about nutritious fruit and vegetables and have embarked on our last writing journey describing our ideal sweets recipe. In science, we have understood what humans need and how our skeletons and muscles work.
We have been comparing towns and villages, reading maps and referring to a compass to understand direction. Cezanne’s still life, including fruit has inspired sketching, shading, watercolour and pastels.
Colour preferences can now be expressed in French and in PE, the children’s physical literacy has continued to grow in batting and fielding skills.
Maths has included calculating a perimeter, angles and fractions. We are still practising our times tables and it is important to keep learning these over the summer so that the 2, 3, 4, 5 and 10 times tables are secure, as well as number bonds to ten and twenty.
We have been doing transition preparation and reflecting on the children’s achievements in Year 3. Their morning in Year 4 was met with lots of smiles! It has been a privilege to have been a part of your child’s precious educational journey and we thank you for all your support this year.
We wish you all a safe (and hopefully sunnier) summer break and we look forward to welcoming you all back in September.
With best wishes
The Year 3 Team – Mrs Dowsett, Mrs Johnson and Mrs G
